Ipsos B&A conducted a Nationwide study in October 2023 on consumers’ relationships with, and attitudes towards, Private Health Insurance. This was a continuation of a biennial study commissioned by the Health Insurance Authority.

Among the findings, the study found that private health insurance is considered a necessity rather than a luxury, and that a significant majority of those with private health insurance have never moved provider. Most have no plans to change their cover when their renewal is due.

The average length of time people have had a health insurance policy is 20 years while the average length of time people have stayed with their current provider is 15 years.
