Behaviour & Attitudes conducted the Consumer Sentiment Banking Survey 2023 on behalf of the Department of Finance to ascertain consumer experience and perceptions of the banking sector in Ireland. The first wave of the survey was conducted in 2022, as part of the Department of Finance Retail Banking Review.
The 2023 survey shows a significant increase in the use of “digital only” banking providers. The survey also shows an increase in usage of online banking in general, but clear generational differences in terms of channel usage remain, with those aged 55 years or older still relying strongly on a branch network.
