The Joy of Christmas Ads 2024
As we embrace the festive season, we once again turn our eyes (and analysis) to some of this year’s Christmas TV ads.
This year, Ipsos B&A asked for favourite Christmas ads and why: over 40 ads were mentioned!
We also analysed 8 TV ads that were on air in the lead up to Christmas 2024 to explore their emotional impact, their level of Christmas joy and Christmas spirit, and to highlight what resonated with viewers of each ad.
Over 40 ads were mentioned when we asked for favourite Christmas ads – showing the power of humour, nostalgia and iconic characters and visuals.
We used bespoke questions and our Ipsos B&A AdEffect model to explore the impact of Christmas ads from Woodies, An Post, Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Supervalu, Amazon and Boots.
💡 A few highlights on our findings:
🎄 Our 2024 Christmas ads, as a group, are more likeable and involving non-Christmas TV ads
🎄Woodies, An Post and Aldi were top for recall and enjoyment
🎄Mrs. Higgins, Tin Man and Tesco’s grandson and granddad were the most likeable characters
🎄Woodies and Aldi proved strong for branding while An Post topped the branding tree
