Varadkar popularity hits new heights – B&A/Sunday Times poll
In last month’s poll we witnessed a significant increase in both Government satisfaction, and in Leo Varadkar’s performance as Taoiseach. Correspondingly, we saw support for Fine Gael increase from 32% to 36%.
Thus, there were no signs of Leo Varadkar’s honeymoon period as Taoiseach receding, with his party, and the Government in general, riding the crest of a wave.
Satisfaction with the manner in which the Government is running the country has increased, albeit insignificantly, by two percentage points over the last month to 50% today. Indeed, the average Government satisfaction rating for the first three months of 2018 is 47% – compared to an average of 44% for the four months preceding Christmas that Leo Varadkar was in charge as Taoiseach.
