Fianna Fail maintain consistent lead over Fine Gael – Sunday Times/B&A Poll
Support for Fianna Fáil had held steady with previous months’ polls, Sinn Fein support had dropped significantly, and Green Party support had increased from 5% in May to 11% in June. There was certainly a sense in which that last poll represented something of a knee-jerk reaction to the results of the European and local elections, the question then being to what extent those party support levels would maintain in the longer term.
The results of today’s poll do suggest that the political landscape has reverted to a more familiar pattern, with Government and party leader satisfaction more or less back to their June levels, the gap narrowing between Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, and Sinn Fein support improving somewhat from its all-time low of last month’s 12%.
