FF and SF by far the most popular government choices
During the early days of fieldwork for this poll, the various political parties were engaging with each other to compare policy positions and general views on Government formation, and the consensus was that serious negotiations on a programme for Government would only begin towards the end of March, or even early April.
The rapidly escalating Covid-19 crisis has of course changed everything, including the Irish political landscape, over an extremely short period of time.
At the time of writing, senior Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil politicians have begun to hold detailed talks on the formation of a Government, with negotiating teams established on both sides during the early part of last week.
